Technology VS Old School-People born before the 90's will understand this best.

It's been years since I sat in front of a lappy and type away what comes to mind.
Even though time has pass me by, here I am once again trying to be different.
Let's just see how long this blog will last and what content it may have in the near future. :)
Throughout the years, I admit that I have learned a few things, gain a few things and lose a few things.

As I near my late 20's, I must say that I have been through a lot of things. And yet I still feel that it can't be compared to others. As everybody's life is different, the phases and experiences we go through are different. No doubt that every once in awhile you will stop in your tracks and say, 'Hey I've been through this before.' And every now and then you repeat the mistakes you make due to the inborn stubbornness that you so refuse to overcome. But at the end of it all, it is all these experiences that make us who we are in today's society.

You may think that, okay this is another wanna be preacher in life. As if there isn't enough preaching going on around.
Well mister/misses, it's not preaching it's sharing. You are more than welcome to just press the close button at the top right. Then again, you are reading my BLOG....so most likely you have nothing else to do, or my BLOG became famous (most unlikely), or like me-for entertainment purposes you read blogs to kill time and laugh at other people's thoughts.
But no matter, cause everybody has a right to their own opinion and thoughts. So feel free to tell me what you think, I love getting feedbacks be it good or bad.

Back to the main topic now, shall we?

City Kids nowadays, they want to be like what they see on TV. Handphones, advancement in technology and freedom to do whatever they feel like doing. What happen to the good old fashion FAMILY VALUES or the RESTRICTION or the SIMPLICITY OF WRITING A LETTER?  (pfft..) Gone I tell you. All gone!

Go up to any 13-15 years old student, ask them when was the last time they wrote to their friend / family member abroad a proper letter. You know...with pen, paper, envelope, stamps and the excitement of waiting for it to arrive in the mailbox. Trust me when I say, out of every 10 students you ask, the answer will be 1 or NONE. This is because technology these days have made us LAZY, VULNERABLE and SLAVED. Why I choose this 3 words to describe technology?

1. LAZY- Technology is so advance now, that even starting a car just requires a push of a button instead of turning the key to hear the usual cranking noise that comes with the start up. Or put it this way, Technology is so advance that we are SUFFERING from a lack of language proficiency. This is due to the auto correct in smartphones, and writing programs stored in lappy and computers. Hence we are LAZY, we even have robots to sweep the floor for us! I bet that the cartoon WALL-E is a prediction of the future for us. Look at all those FAT-OBESE people in that cartoon, by gawd they sit in the hoover chairs all day and only interact with the A.I. How many of you kids actually rotate washing your school uniform by hand among your siblings or do it yourself? No Kakak or Wash Machine! Or even wash your school shoes and paint a layer of white chalk over it when it dries? If you haven't tried it, please ask your parents to show it to you. Parents, please ask your son/daughter to try it out. It may seemed old school but it teaches oneself humility and being humble.

2. VULNERABLE- Why are we vulnerable? Here's a test for you, after finish reading this BLOG post. Challenge yourself to NOT RELY on any Technology for the next 24 hrs. Am not gonna torture you till the point of restricting the fan, even I need that; but you need to give up the luxuries in life for 24 hrs. When I say luxuries, I meant Air-Conditioning, Water Heater, Handphones / Smartphones, Lappy / Computers, Coffee Machine(Nescafe Dolce Machine). Anything you deem that you can't afford unless your parents gave it to you or you earn it like a mad man / woman is considered a luxury. If you survived the 24 hrs hassle free and frustration free. Then Kudos to you, you are not as vulnerable as some people I know of. I have challenged my friends and the one thing that made them fail the 24 hrs challenge immediately is.....remembering your house / parents / loved ones phone numbers. In the case of an emergency (like you need a ride/ tow truck due to car breakdown), and you only have a couple of 20 cents and a payphone ahead. These phone numbers are crucial!

If you have yet to realize, the 3 words I stated of technology is actually words that are describing cause and effect of technology; and they interrelate to one another. Which bring us down to the last word....

3. SLAVED- You, my dear reader is a SLAVE for technology. If Apocalypse is to happen now, we are the few people who won't survive it. Due to a fact that we would PANIC & WORRY ourselves to death. As we won't have any survival skills, or the know hows on how to survive without technology. Your daily life, as of starting of the mid 90's revolved around technology. I bet you can't even remember how to start a fire with  just twigs and figs (Boy & Girl Scouts should ace this) Lets not head so far ahead, lets just try basic test. Can you do secondary math problems without a calculator? Just basic Pythagoras calculations of a triangle or perform multiplications without the calculator? Can you write a proper letter, with proper language proficiency without any auto correct or dictionary? Can you hand wash your laundry?
Trust me when I say, we can't. Not even me! I rely on the wash machine, as I too am guilty of being lazy.

So what am I trying to imply here? Technology is good, it simplifies our lives. However, too much of it will just destroy us. And then we will either go back to stone ages where people can't communicate properly or be overrun by our own creations. o.O
And kids, you are not living a real childhood if you never wash your own shoes or uniform or help your mum dry the plates with a cloth.
Parents, stop spoiling your kids. Its high time that we implement the rules that we were once brought up with.

Am not a parent, but I have a younger sister and frankly speaking; her friends are the few that would probably fail the challenges said.
